WHAT THE FIRST LOOK AT AVENGERS 4 MEANS FOR THE MCU

Avengers: Infinity War has been out for over a month now, but Marvel is still being tight-lipped about the real title for Avengers 4. Since the film is about 11 months away, it could be quite a while before we finally see footage from the next Avengers movie. However, a piece of artwork may have provided us with our first glimpse of the new team in Avengers 4. Today’s Nerdist News challenges Thanos and explains what the latest iteration of the Avengers could mean for the MCU.

Join host and reserve member of the Great Lakes Avengers, Jessica Chobot, as she assembles the intel about this first look. It should be noted this image could be just really good fan art. But if it’s legitimate, then it means both Rocket and Nebula will essentially be on the team as they go up against Thanos one last time. There’s also one other significant addition: Captain Marvel in her traditional red and gold costume.

If the image is accurate, Captain America‘s shaving his beard and Black Widow is once again rocking her red hair. Presumably that indicates they don’t have to hide who they are anymore. Although it’s anyone’s guess how much of the government is intact after Thanos dusted half the universe. Speaking of which, we can’t help but notice the Wasp is not in this image with her partner, Ant-Man. Does this mean Hope van Dyne was among the victims of Thanos? We may find out sooner than expected if Ant-Man and the Wasp features an end-credits scene that sets up Avengers 4.

First Avengers 4 synopsis revealed, teases time travel, alternate reality and death

With Avengers: Infinity War still going strong at the box office, it’s too early to expect any substantial information about the future. But on Tuesday, the first synopsis of Avengers 4 was released by Licence Global magazine, and it offers several hints for fans to dissect.

Several comic book sites such as Comicbook.com, Comic Book Resources and Hype Beast report that the as yet untitled fourth Avengers film — the magazine lists it as Avengers: Untitled — will feature an epic journey which will serve as a conclusion to 22 films worth of story.

Here’s the synopsis: “A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”

Three things have caught the attention of fans: The turning point, the fragility of their reality and the sacrifices that must be made. This suggests that earlier theories might be proven true and that the Avengers — at least, those who survived the events of Infinity War — will utilise the Time Stone and the Reality Stone to beat Thanos, and some of them will die for real this time.

License Global was also the first publication to reveal the synopsis for Avengers: Infinity War.

At the end of Infinity War, the villainous Thanos snapped his fingers and eviscerated half the universe’s population. Set photos of the fourth Avengers film suggest that the remaining heroes will go back in time to the Battle of New York: The ‘turning point’ mentioned in the synopsis.

And Doctor Strange’s revelation that there is only one conclusion out of 14 billion possibilities to the story in which the Avengers win, the synopsis also reaffirms the involvement of the Reality Stone.

Infinity War is within touching distance of the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office — only three films (Titanic, Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens) in history have achieved this milestone. The film also broke the record for the biggest Hollywood release in India, with a gross of over Rs 250 crore.

Avengers 4 will reunite original stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth to challenge Thanos once and for all. Disney chief Bob Iger recently said that the film will be a ‘significant conclusion’ to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will also serve as a passing on of the baton to a younger set of heroes for the future
